DTU Aqua Fully Funded Industrial & Academic PhD Positions in Fisheries Science & Sustainable Aquaculture, Denmark

DTU Aqua (National Institute of Aquatic Resources, Technical University of Denmark) is offering fully funded doctoral (Ph.D.) positions in Fisheries Science, Aquaculture Technology, and Marine Ecosystem Management in Kgs. Lyngby and Silkeborg, Denmark.

Research Focus & Aquatic Science Scope

DTU Aqua leads European research in sustainable fish production, marine biodiversity conservation, and aquatic resource modeling. Key doctoral research themes include:

  • Recirculating Aquaculture Systems (RAS): Optimizing water purification, biofiltration kinetics, and microbial water quality control in intensive fish farming.
  • Fish Population Dynamics & Stock Assessment: Formulating mathematical models for marine fish stock assessment, pelagic food webs, and climate impacts on fisheries.
  • Aquatic Microbial Ecology & Fish Welfare: Investigating host-microbiome interactions, mucosal immunity, and pathogen prevention in salmonid and marine fish species.

Position Benefits & Employment Terms

  • Host Institution: DTU Aqua (Technical University of Denmark), Lyngby/Silkeborg, Denmark.
  • Duration: 3 Years full-time doctoral appointment.

Candidate Requirements

  • Master’s degree (M.Sc.) in Fisheries Science, Aquaculture, Marine Biology, Hydrobiology, Environmental Engineering, or related fields.
  • Strong quantitative research skills, laboratory experience, or marine field survey experience.
  • Fluency in spoken and written scientific English.
