food day is celebrated around the world on 16 October in admiration of the date
of the establishment of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations in 1945.
History of World Food Day
United Nation’s Food and Agriculture
Organization (FAO) declared 16 October of every year as World Food Day which was started in the year 1979. Primarily, World Food Day was launched to honor
the establishing of FAO. Progressively, this day turned into a global event, generating
awareness about food shortage and reviving food systems across the globe. This
year World Food Day 2020 also marks the 75th birthday of Food and Agriculture
Organisation FAO.

This year’s theme of World Food Day is – “Grow, nourish, sustain. Together. Our
actions are our future.”
Why we celebrated World Food Day?
The main reason for celebrated World Food Day every year to highlight things
which are necessary for food security and good nutrition for all,
with special attention on poor and susceptible communities around the globe. On
this day lot of workshops, seminar, conferences and webinars are organized to discuss
different issues related to food security and good nutrition in the world.
