Research Focus & Alpine Hydrology Scope

Alpine watersheds, mountain ecosystems, and glacier meltwater systems are critical indicators of global climate change and freshwater resource availability. This 3-year doctoral program provides specialized research training across key thematic areas:

  • Mountain Water Management & Hydrology: Evaluating alpine stream flow dynamics, snowpack meltwater contribution, and sediment transport in mountain watersheds.
  • Climate Adaptation & Ecosystem Resilience: Investigating biodiversity shifts, soil-water conservation, and sustainable land management under changing climatic conditions.
  • Environmental Sciences & Natural Resource Conservation: Deploying field telemetry, ecohydrological modeling, and biogeochemical monitoring across the Alps.

Funding Package & Contract Terms

  • Total Positions: 4 Fully Funded Doctoral Scholarships.
  • Stipend: €28,000 annual funding scale with research allowance and international mobility support.
  • Duration: 3 Years full-time.

Candidate Requirements

  • Master’s degree (M.Sc. or equivalent) in Environmental Science, Hydrology, Alpine Ecology, Geology, Agricultural Engineering, or related fields.

  • English language proficiency at B2 level or higher.
