The ICAR-National Bureau of Fish Genetic Resources (NBFGR), Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, has announced walk-in interview and contractual research recruitment opportunities for Young Professional-I (YP-I) and project research positions in October 2026. Established under the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), NBFGR is India’s apex institute dedicated to the collection, cataloging, genomic characterization, and conservation of indigenous fish genetic resources, as well as national aquatic animal disease surveillance.
Program Overview: Fish Genetic Resources & Ornamental Aquaculture Projects
India possesses an extraordinarily rich diversity of indigenous freshwater and marine ornamental fish species across the Western Ghats, North-Eastern Himalayas, and island ecosystems. Under the All India Network Project on Ornamental Fish Breeding and Culture (AINP-OFBC) and national genomics initiatives, ICAR-NBFGR engages talented fisheries graduates and postgraduates in captive breeding standardization, molecular taxonomy, sperm cryopreservation, fish cell line development, and disease diagnostics.
