Research Focus and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will work within the SEAlgaePower project to identify marine microalgae strains that deliver high biomass productivity, efficient nutrient removal, and improved water quality. Key responsibilities include:

  • Cultivate marine microalgae in laboratory multicultivator systems.
  • Test microalgae growth in side-stream waters from the seafood processing industry.
  • Monitor growth parameters using absorbance and chlorophyll fluorescence.
  • Harvest biomass and quantify yield.
  • Analyze physiological responses and biochemical composition of the biomass.
  • Participate in consortium meetings and scientific conferences.

This work package is led by the Department of Biological and Environmental Sciences (BioEnv) in collaboration with Chalmers University of Technology and the University of Palermo, offering excellent exposure to international academic and industrial partners.
