Introduction:
Fishery (plural: fisheries) is a physical activity leading to catching, processing or selling of fish,
shellfish (molluscs, crustaceans) and
other aquatic animals and plants.
According to Food and Agricultural Organization ( FAO) Rome, a fishery is an activity
leading to capture of fish wild water resources or raising of fish through aquaculture system
.
Fisheries are mainly categorized in
three types Inland fisheries, Marine fisheries, and fisheries through aquaculture
Inland Fisheries consist of
A)
Freshwater fisheries resources like, River, Reservoirs, Lakes, etc
B) Coldwater
water fisheries resources
2 . Marine water Fisheries include Oceans, estuaries
etc
3 Aquaculture: Aquaculture include culturing of both
freshwater and marine fishes
The main
of fish and fisheries is to improve food and nutrition security, upsurge income
and increase livelihoods, support economic growth and protect our environment
and natural resources.

( FAO) after every two years released world fisheries statistics official document in the form THE STATE OF WORLD FISHERIES AND AQUACULTURE
