- Bioinformatics is an emerging scientific discipline that
uses information technology to organize, analyze and disseminate biological
information in order to answer complex biological questions (Singh and Kumar,
2001). It involves solving complex biological problems using tools and computer
systems. Selection of primers 3 is useful for polymerase chain reaction (PCR),
oligo hybridization and DNA sequencing. - Proper primer design is actually one of
the most important factors / steps for successful DNA sequencing. Various

investigator and laboratory experience to assess the suggested primers before
engaging in their synthesis ( Binas, 2000). - The optimal primer sequence and the
appropriate primer concentration are essential for maximum PCR specificity and
efficiency. - A poorly designed primer can cause little or no product due to
non-specific amplification and / or the formation of a primer dimer, which can
be competitive enough to suppress product formation. - There are several online
tools available to help molecular biologists design effective PCR primers.

- The use of software in biological applications has given a new dimension to the field of bioinformatics.
- Many different primer design programs are now available.
- Free software is available on the Internet and many universities have established servers on which a user can connect and perform free analyzes of proteins and nucleic acid sequences (Singh and Kumar, 2001).
