Garmin has officially launched the LiveScope 2 Series, the next generation of its award-winning live-scanning sonar lineup. Announced on 7 July 2026 from Olathe, Kansas, the new series promises the clearest live sonar views Garmin has ever produced — with up to 20% greater resolution, improved noise reduction and expanded sonar coverage over the previous generation.
LiveScope is widely considered one of the most influential innovations in modern fishing electronics: it shows anglers real-time views of fish, bait and structure around the boat. The LiveScope 2 Series builds on that foundation with three brand-new transducer models designed for different fishing styles.
Three New Transducers: LVS44, LVS42HD and Ice Model
The headline change is the transducer lineup. Each model connects directly to a compatible Garmin multi-function display (MFD) — there is no separate black box, which simplifies installation and frees space on the boat.
| Transducer | Key Specification |
|---|---|
| LiveScope 2 (LVS44) | 20% more resolution and 25% more range than the previous model — out to 250 feet |
| LiveScope 2 HD (LVS42HD) | Optimised for castable distances out to 125 feet; Garmin’s clearest live sonar ever with 50% more detail at closer ranges |
| LiveScope 2 HD Ice Fishing Transducer | Same HD sonar with a shorter, flexible cold-water cable and an all-in-one power/network cable; 0-degree shaft mount included in the box |
Sharper Detail, Wider Coverage
According to Garmin’s official announcement, the LiveScope 2 Series delivers:
- Integrated image stabilisation with reduced noise for Garmin’s smoothest LiveScope sonar yet
- Better target separation — fish and lures show up more clearly as they move through the sonar beam in real time
- Wider sonar angles in all three modes: Forward, Down and Perspective
- Fast processing and low latency, so anglers can see fish react and time hooksets accurately
“LiveScope 2 builds on that foundation with clearer target separation at both short and long ranges, up to 50% more detail, broader sonar coverage and a streamlined setup that eliminates the need for a black box,” said Susan Lyman, Garmin Vice President of Consumer Sales and Marketing, in the official launch statement.
Simpler Installation, Smarter Sensors
Setup is designed to be plug-and-play. All LiveScope 2 and LiveScope 2 HD transducers connect straight to a compatible Garmin display and power source. Built-in sensors add convenience:
- Water sensor — automatically switches the sonar off when the transducer is lifted out of the water
- Onboard water-temperature sensor — accurate readings without extra hardware
- Mounts included — trolling motor barrel mount and adjustable Perspective mode mount, adjustable with no tools
For a fully connected system, the series works across the Garmin marine ecosystem, including the Spy Pole mount for independent sonar control and the GT360UHD transducer for a combined live and 360-degree view around the boat.
Price and Availability
Garmin confirms the LiveScope 2 Series is available now, with suggested retail prices ranging from $1,999.99 to $2,199.99 (US suggested retail pricing; check with authorised Garmin marine dealers in India for local pricing and availability).
Why It Matters for Indian Anglers
Live sonar technology is gaining ground among serious reservoir and lake anglers in India, where structure fishing in deep impoundments rewards precise fish location. A 250-foot range and 50% more close-range detail could make a visible difference on large reservoirs — though the premium price places the LiveScope 2 Series firmly in the professional and enthusiast segment.
Garmin has been named Manufacturer of the Year by the National Marine Electronics Association (NMEA) for the 11th consecutive year, underlining its position as the world’s largest marine electronics manufacturer (based on 2025 sales).
