The Institute for Chemistry and Biology of the Marine Environment (ICBM) at the University of Oldenburg in Wilhelmshaven, Germany, is accepting applications for a 36-month MSCA Doctoral Candidate position in Experimental Marine Ecology within the Horizon Europe ReDiLEEP network.
Research Focus & Marine Ecology Scope
The doctoral project explores response diversity and ecosystem resilience in marine plankton communities across European coastal waters:
- Plankton Response Diversity: Conducting experimental mesocosm and microcosm studies examining how phytoplankton and zooplankton species respond to temperature, salinity, and nutrient stress.
- Spatial & Evolutionary Dynamics: Assessing how dispersal and eco-evolutionary adaptation maintain functional stability in marine food webs.
- European Research Secondments: Completing international research secondments at Trinity College Dublin and the University of Zürich.

Candidate Requirements
- Master’s degree in Marine Science, Aquatic Ecology, Biological Oceanography, or related discipline.
- Background in plankton ecology, experimental aquatic setups, or community modeling.
- Compliance with MSCA mobility criteria (must not have resided/carried out main activity in Germany for more than 12 months in the 3 years prior to recruitment).
