The WSL Institute for Snow and Avalanche Research SLF in Davos, Switzerland, invites applications for a two-year Postdoctoral Research position in Snow Isotope Modelling and Cryosphere Hydrology funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF).
Project Context & Hydrological Research Scope
Snow physics and polar cryosphere processes are essential for understanding regional hydrological budgets, mountain water resources, and climate system feedbacks. This research project investigates airborne snow metamorphism (ASM) and stable water isotope dynamics in polar snowpacks. Key research focus areas include:
- Integrating newly developed physical parameterizations into the coupled atmosphere-snow model CRYOWRF.
- Executing high-resolution numerical simulations to evaluate stable water isotope signals in polar and alpine environments.
- Quantifying snow microstructure evolution and mass balance dynamics across polar ice sheets and alpine watersheds.

Required Candidate Profile

- Strong background or interest in snow physics, polar hydrology, or atmospheric model parameterization.
