Postdoctoral Research Position in Integrative Multi-Omics & Synthetic Microbiology at Southern Illinois University Carbondale, USA

The SynMicBio Laboratory in the School of Biological Sciences at Southern Illinois University Carbondale (SIUC) is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher in Integrative Multi-Omics and Synthetic Microbiology.

Project Scope & Collaborative Network

This multi-institutional research project brings together collaborative teams from UC Berkeley, MIT, and UNC to engineer programmable microbial systems and biocatalytic technologies for environmental polymer degradation and circular biomanufacturing. Key research responsibilities include:

  • Conducting integrative multi-omics analyses (metagenomics, transcriptomics, metabolomics, and proteomics) on engineered bacterial communities.
  • Developing synthetic biology constructs and metabolic flux models to optimize microbial degradation pathways.
  • Collaborating with cross-disciplinary teams in computational biology, bioprocess engineering, and environmental biotechnology.

  • Appointment: Full-time, renewable postdoctoral research contract.

Qualifications
