About the Bonn International Fellowship Program

The Bonn International Fellowships support outstanding international postdoctoral researchers and faculty members from all academic disciplines. The program aims to:

• Foster global academic exchange and collaboration
• Integrate world-class researchers into the University of Bonn’s academic life
• Promote long-term research partnerships
• Enhance visibility through public engagement such as lectures, seminars, and workshops

Note: Direct applications from candidates are not accepted. Researchers must be nominated by a faculty member from the University of Bonn.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for nomination, applicants must:

• Be international researchers with a postdoctoral degree or extensive academic experience
• Have a strong scholarly reputation and active contributions to their field
• Demonstrate the potential for impactful collaboration with Bonn faculty
• Be willing to participate in academic events like lectures, colloquia, or seminars

Required Application Documents

Applications can only be submitted by University of Bonn faculty members. Each application must include:

• Completed online application form
• A detailed project description (max. 6 pages) with:
  • Visit timeline and objectives
  • Academic profile and achievements of the nominee
  • Strategy for integration into Bonn’s academic scene
  • Expected outcomes and future collaboration plans
• Fellow’s CV (PDF format)
• Invitation letter from the Bonn host faculty (signed, PDF)
• Consent letter from the fellow (informal, PDF)
• Completed financing plan (Excel format provided by the university)

Important: The University of Bonn does not accept direct applications from researchers. External applicants must arrange to be invited by a faculty member. No matchmaking service is available.
