Graduate students will participate in one of the following innovative and solution-driven projects focused on manure use, composting, and nutrient cycling:

1. Manure Application Strategies for Alfalfa

• Optimize manure application timing and techniques.
• Enhance alfalfa yield and soil health through sustainable practices.

2. Nitrogen Credits from Manured Alfalfa for Corn Production

• Analyze nitrogen cycling in rotational cropping systems.
• Evaluate nitrogen carryover benefits from alfalfa to corn.

3. Composting and Liquid-Solid Separation for Weed Seed Inactivation

• Study methods to remove or deactivate weed seeds from dairy manure.
• Develop sustainable composting protocols for effective manure handling.
